SCCM R3 beta
The Configuration Manager 2007 R3 beta has been out for a couple of weeks now. Of particular interest for our larger customers are the improvements for large scale deployments, R3 will support 300,000 clients per site.
For smaller deployments there is also good news in respect to performance, R3 improves aspects of AD discovery with Delta Active Directory Discovery. Combined with Dynamic Collection addition, we will all be able to significantly reduce time it takes for AD changes to manifest in collection updates.
R3 is definitely something you should download into your test lab.
SCCM V.Next
But for those looking a little further ahead SCCM V.Next is on the horizon. It’s huge, there’s a good bit more MS-SQL to it and Beta 1 is available for download too!
With the long winter nights drawing in (particularly in Melbourne and Hobart) it is the perfect time to run up a sandpit and take the wrappers off the next version of Configuration Manager. It may not be being met with the same anticipation as the iPad, but you can’t tell us that this isn’t as cool.
